During the event, Matthew Wiggins, a clinical research scientist at Samsung Research, unveiled a feature called ‘My Vitality Score’ for the Galaxy Ring. The ‘My Vitality Score’ feature is supposed to give you a score that shows how your body and mind are doing. It looks at things like your sleep, activity, and heart rate data. The Galaxy Ring is expected to work regularly with Samsung smartphones, including the newest Galaxy S24 series.

According to Samsung spokesperson Amber Reaver, the ring is designed to be all about keeping things simple and effective for everyday wellness at home. To achieve this, they focused on making sure the tracking data is reliable and accurate over the long haul, and that’s one reason they chose a smaller design. Reaver pointed out that the ring will boast advanced sensor technologies and stressed its comfort for around-the-clock wear. Some lucky individuals at Unpacked even got a glimpse of a prototype. Analyst Avi Greengart mentioned that it’s lightweight, comes in three finishes and sizes up to 13, and is expected to hit the market later this year.

According to a report from The Elec, Samsung is focusing on a single model of the smart ring, skipping the Plus or Ultra versions, and offering it in four different sizes. The report also indicates that the current advanced version of the ring in development is a bit too big for an immediate commercial release. Samsung is working on packing in as many functions as possible and is planning to trim down some features during the mass production development phase to make the ring more manageable in size.
