Microsoft plans to put work, school, and personal team accounts together in one app, so users won’t need different versions for different things.

Microsoft Combines All Teams Versions into One App

Microsoft is updating Teams on Windows and Mac so that all types of Team accounts can be used in one app. This means users won’t need different versions for work, school, and personal accounts, making it easier to access all team’s features in one place. Currently, users might need different versions for work, school, and personal accounts, but this update will combine them into a single app.

So, by using this update, users can access all Teams features in one place, regardless of their account type, and it will allow users with work, school, or personal Microsoft Teams accounts to smoothly access all the desktop client’s features. Also the new combined Microsoft Teams app should let you switch between different accounts, so you don’t accidentally use your personal account for work.

The official roadmap states “Microsoft Teams on Windows and Mac will support all types of Teams accounts (work, school, or personal) in one desktop app.“

Currently, users can choose between two versions of Teams: “Teams for home” and “Teams for work or school. Microsoft Teams Essentials is available at a cost of $4 per user per month. It includes features like 300-person capacity meetings, infinite group meetings, and 10GB of cloud storage.

The update will start in April for Desktop and Mac users. It will let users access all their Teams accounts in one app, whether for work, school, or personal use. This means users will soon be able to access all their Teams accounts—whether for work, school, or personal use—within a single desktop application.

It will likely include Microsoft’s latest AI tools. This could include features like reducing background noise during Microsoft Teams calls by filtering out recognized user profiles, ensuring you’re not distracted by other voices.

The new “Decorate your background” tool lets users enhance their virtual backgrounds with AI-generated effects, such as cleaning up clutter or adding virtual plants.

What’s New with Teams This Week?

Microsoft has updated Copilot in Teams with a new look, smarter prompts, and chat history, making it easier to use. The update also includes personalized prompts, access to chat history, and a library of prompts in Copilot Lab.

The update keeps the main features of the old version but improves prompts based on what users need, like showing colleagues, meetings, and files. Users can also see their Copilot chat history and get prompts from Copilot Lab.

Abby Schilbach, a Microsoft Product Marketing Manager, praised the improvements in a blog post, saying the new Copilot in Teams is better than the current Microsoft 365 Chat in Teams, offering users a better experience. The updated Copilot for Microsoft 365 users was released on Monday, February 12.

Another update for Teams is the public preview of the Human Resources app, which helps manage annual leave requests. The app, integrated with Dynamics 365 Human Resources, offers organizations a simple way for employees to request, change, and cancel time off.

Finally, Microsoft is adding a new feature that lets users chat in Teams directly within the new Outlook for Windows app. In meetings organized through either Outlook or Teams, where Teams is used as the meeting platform, participants can now chat in Teams in real-time directly within Outlook.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Microsoft’s updates to Teams aim to make the app more user-friendly and integrated, with new features like improved chat and AI tools for background noise reduction and decoration.
